One of the most well-known places is Charlotte Lake, which is surrounded by greenery and offers peaceful views. Many visitors enjoy spending time near the lake, especially during the early morning hours.
Another popular attraction is Echo Point, where travelers can experience the natural echo effect created by the surrounding hills. The viewpoint also offers beautiful valley views. Panorama Point is one of the best spots to watch the sunrise in Matheran. The panoramic views of mountains and valleys make it a favorite location for photographers and nature lovers.
Other attractions include Louisa Point, Alexander Point, and One Tree Hill Point, each offering unique scenic landscapes. Exploring these attractions while staying in Matheran resorts, villas, or hotels makes the travel experience even more memorable.

How to Reach Matheran – Best Season, Time & Routes
Reaching Matheran is quite convenient, especially for travelers coming from Mumbai and Pune. During my trip, I explored different routes and transport options available for visitors. The most common way to reach Matheran is by traveling to Neral, which is the base point for the hill station. From Neral, travelers can take the famous toy train, which is a unique and enjoyable experience.
Another option is to drive to Dasturi Point, the last motorable point before Matheran. From there, visitors can walk, take a horse ride, or use hand-pulled rickshaws to reach the town area. The best season to visit Matheran is from October to May, when the weather is pleasant and ideal for sightseeing. Monsoon season also attracts nature lovers because the hills become extremely green and beautiful.
From my experience, planning a trip during winter or early summer offers the most comfortable weather for exploring Matheran resorts, attractions, and nature trails.
